Forty-20 magazine features Rugby League Wiki

Rugby League Wiki is featured in the August issue of Forty-20 magazine.Forty-20's August 2011 front cover

Forty-20, a new rugby league monthly, comes out on the 13th day of each month and – like RL Wiki does – “values every rugby league club or nation, whatever their geography, playing standard or version of the code, from Barrow to Brighton, from Bradford to Belgrade, from Perpignan to Parramatta to Papua New Guinea“.

The magazine includes interviews and articles on many aspects of the game.

To read the article (and the rest of the mag!) for yourself, you can subscribe online or pick it up from outlets including WHSmith and ASDA.

100 articles!

Rugby League Wiki logoRugby League Wiki has reached 100 articles.

It’s fitting that the 100th article is “Laws of the Game“, because, in keeping with RLW’s aims, it details how the game has developed over the years.

New wiki feature: Rugby league towns

Rugby League Wiki logoRugby League Wiki has a new feature. The wiki will include articles on rugby league towns and cities around the world. The articles include an introduction to the settlement, rugby league’s history in the town and several lists that will aid navigation. Lists for past and current clubs, active and previously active schools, colleges and universities, local representative teams, past and current local competitions and grounds, as well as other local rugby league features are included.

There is no other rugby league resource of this kind available. The first of these articles to be created is about Wigan in the UK. The guidance for editing articles about towns and cities is in the Manual of Style for settlements.

Follow our Twitter feed for new articles @rugbylgehistory

We’ve recently added a new feed to Twitter, the microblogging site. We already have our main profile @rugbyleaguewiki, which is used to keep people up to date on events at RLW and the blog. Now, we have added @rugbylgehistory. The Rugby League History feed will automatically update when a new article is created on the wiki, allowing you to stay up to date and able to join in. It’s also a useful way to check for spammers.

Shaping up

Slowly but surely, the Rugby League Wiki is developing. The plan is to gradually create an article for every category of rugby league information: Grounds, footballers, towns etc. Even lecture series! By doing that, RLW should develop its way of doing things.

Rugby League Wiki’s Vision, Mission and Strategy

Rugby League Wiki‘s purpose is to help spread rugby league information more freely than ever before. The wiki format will allow fans to document the Game together.

Guiding the project are Rugby League Wiki’s Vision, Mission, and Strategy:

Vision: For everyone to be able to find out about rugby league football easily.

Mission: Be the greatest reference for The Greatest Game.

Strategy: Gather, organise and present rugby league information including the history, culture, people and institutions of the sport.

Rugby League Wiki has the potential to become the most comprehensive rugby league fan resource available, we hope you’ll join in!
