Bradley Wiggins and Sam Tomkins Sky's 2013 Super League promo

Tour de France winner Bradley Wiggins appears alongside Sam Tomkins and narrates Sky’s new advert for the 2013 Super League competition.

“Deep down, I would love to be a rugby league player” – Bradley Wiggins

The Serra de Tramuntana Mountain Range provides stunning scenery, as Tomkins runs on foot and Wiggins cycles.

Sky Sports’ first live Super League match of 2013 is Leeds v Hull FC on Friday 1st February.

New Super League Live Scores site

Super League has updated its live score service. Have a look at the site here: http://www.superleague.co.uk/live/

If you go to the page for Salford v Bradford match that was played today, there’s an interesting match timeline displaying tries, goals and interchanges. You can see when the forwards were rotated during the first half. There may be some early glitches, as the timeline shows just seven interchanges being made out of 20 allowed between the sides, but as it’s a similar story for the Huddersfield v Wigan game, perhaps the timeline is showing that interchanges aren’t used as often as people imagine.

The updated service is one of several improvements made by the RFL to its online offering. Other changes include website refreshes for many competitions, including superleague.co.uk which now includes a more prominent match schedule with convenient links to video highlights, and enhanced Super League TV output.

Super League highlights on Youtube

Super League match highlights are now available on video-sharing website Youtube. The new official highlights channel, SLHighlights, was created on 14 February 2011 and supplements the older UKRugbyLeague channel. Each highlights video is around 4-5 minutes in length. In the past, fans have called for match footage to be made available on the website to expose the sport to new audiences. It’s not immediately clear if there are any country specific viewing restrictions in place, but any increased exposure will surely be welcomed.

The new highlights channel is another improvement to Super League’s online presence, under the banner Super League TV. Also new for the 2011 season is the weekly round-up programme  Super League Touchline, fronted by Paul Burland.
